  • Change language: Available are several languages - future releases of Tweak-XP will offer additional language files. Click on 'Change language' and choose a language from the file selcting window that will be displayed. As soon as you've choosen a new language file, all elements of Tweak-XP will be translated to the new language.

  • To check for new language files, click the button on the right of the 'Change language...' link. Ensure that you're connected to the internet - Tweak-XP will load your default internet browser and load the Tweak-XP language file website. From that site you can download additional language files for Tweak-XP (if available).

Translate Tweak-XP to your language and get a free copy of Tweak-XP !

How it works - what we do expect:

  • Included to Tweak-XP are 'language files' which do include all texts required to translate the whole program 'on the fly' to a different language.

  • If you would like to use Tweak-XP in your language, translate the two files which are required for each language. Both files can be found in the 'language' subdirectory of the Tweak-XP installation directory (for example: the english files are called 'english.lng' and 'entotip.tip'). Both files can be edited using a regular text editor or any other program that can open and read ascii (.txt) files.

  • Open a .lng file and translate it's contents to your language.

  • Open the corresponding .tip file and translate it also. Please remember that this .tip file comes in a special format: it includes html tags ! Some knowledge of html might be usefull to translate the .tip file.

  • So, if you're interested in a free copy and would like to translate the required language files, contact us at languagesupport@totalidea.de before you start translating the files and ask for some details !

  • Activate sounds: here you can set whether the clicking sounds of the buttons will be activated or not.

  • Start Tweak-XP with Windows: this setting will set Tweak-XP to be executed when Windows is started.

  • Disable CPU usage monitor: this setting will disable the CPU usage monitor which is displayed in the status bar of Tweak-XP.

  • Make Tweak-XP window translucent: when this option is enabled, the Tweak-XP window will be made translucent and you'll be able to see the things located behind the Tweak-XP window. Restart Tweak-XP for a better performance once the this option was enabled.

  • Time to show the 'Right-click' tooltips: if you rightclick an element of Tweak-XP, a Tooltip text will be displayed that describes the function of the element you've clicked. The tool-tip will disappear if you move the mouse over it or as soon as it was displayed for x seconds.

  • Display 'Toggle Desktop' Tray-Icon: this option will (if enabled) display an additional icon in the system tray. If you click this icon, all windows will be minimized at once. If you click it again, all windows will be restored.

  • Change Icon size: If you want small icons to be displayed on the functions bar of Tweak-XP, check this option.

System Restore Points:

Tweak-XP can create System-Restore points using the System Restore feature of Windows XP. One Restore-Point is automatically created on installation of Tweak-XP (by the installer) and on the very first start of Tweak-XP. When you uninstall Tweak-XP, your system will be switched back to the state it was before installing Tweak-XP.
If you experience system failure or another significant problem, you can use System Restore to go back to a previous system state, restoring optimal system functionality. System Restore will not revert user data or document files, so restoring will not cause you to lose your work, mail, or even browsing history and favorites. System Restore is also available to you in safe mode, making it easier for you to roll back your PC to a time before a problem occurred.

For detailled information on the System-Restore feature of Windows XP, please check the Windows XP help file or documentation.

How to create a System-Restore point from within Tweak-XP:

  • Type in the name of your restore point to be created - choose a meaningfull name - that makes it easier to identify each restore point !

  • Click the 'Create System-Restore oint now' button.

  • The System-Restore point will be created - this might take a moment...

  • To display all System-Restore points that were created on your machine, click the 'Display all System-Restore Points' link.

  • To open the Windows System restore point application, click the 'Open System-Restore Program' link. From within this Windows application you can switch back your system to any system-restore point.
